Within her subject’s grey chrysalis, the artist masterfully depicts their struggle to emerge from being bound by metal, leaving behind their protective cocoons. Roy’s figures metamorphosize into magnificent metallic human-butterflies. Continuing her long-lasting dialogue with industrial aluminium and steel, Roy plays on the strength of her chosen medium, using its permanence to depict the transitory nature of existence. Seemingly as light as a feather, her works illustrate life as movement, in the process, sculpting the genesis of mankind. . Event Details. Location: 32 Distillery Lane, Toronto
