The 86-year-old monk "ranks second only to the Dalai Lama"" (NY Times). Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1967. Exiled from Vietnam for his peace efforts, he taught those in the West, coining the term "mindfulness" in his 1975 book "The Miracle of Mindfulness." Mindfulness is the practice of coming back to the present moment to objectively experience life more deeply, relieve suffering, and bring happiness to self and others.
