Bizaanigaabawi (He or She Stands Still) by Nadya Kwandibens

Saturday, 3 May 2025 - In partnership with the CONTACT Photography Festival. Join us for the opening reception and artist talk, you may see the exhibit on display from May 1st to 31st, 2025. Nadya Kwandibens is Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) from the Animakee Wa Zhing #37 First Nation in northwestern Ontario. Her artistic practice encompasses three key bodies of work: Concrete Indians, which explores contemporary urban Indigenous identity and decolonial resistance; Red Works Outtakes, which challenges the “stoic Indian” stereotype through uplifting portraiture; and emergence, another open-call series focused on acts of decolonization and Indigenous intelligence. - 1326 Gerrard St E, Toronto, ON M4L 1Z1, Canada - Event Details
