Making Process Public: Artist Talk with Mishann Lau Shannon Garden-Smith

Sunday 6 October 2024 - Zoom in on the processes of Nuit Blanche artists Mishann Lau and Shannon Garden-Smith as they share their curiosities and considerations of land, distance, participation and public space. Lau's "What are you Saying?" invites audiences to connect through space and time, virtually and in person, while Garden-Smith's "Snail work (for the lake)" changes shape as people move through thousands of grains of sand. This discussion and Q&A explores how artists create interactive and performative works that change over time. Mishann Lau is a multimedia artist who is explores the intersection of technology and the human experience. Shannon Garden-Smith is an uninvited settler of predominantly Scottish and Irish heritage & an artist based in Tkaronto/Toronto, Canada. She has a PhD student in Visual Art at York University & completed an MFA at the University of Guelph.
