Crochet Workshop with Chason Yeboah

Wednesday 9 October 2024 - Learn to crochet and use a variety of textiles to create art pieces with multidisciplinary artist and crochet extraordinaire, Chason Yeboah. From her renowned doll-making to smaller, flat shapes, this workshop incorporates crocheting techniques that connect communities and keep the mind engaged. Chason Adjoa Nana Yeboah-Brown (she/her b. 1991, Toronto) is a self-taught textile sculptor, doll maker and storyteller, exploring the oscillation of ancestral ritual through reconstructed, (un)woven and crocheted structures. Many of her works directly focus on themes of shame, loss of identity, sexuality and the notion and practice of self-love, with a focus on marginalized humans. This workshop was developed in partnership with Wildseed Centre for Art and Activism. "Bashment & Lime", Yeboah’s Nuit Blanche collaboration with Elicser Elliott, features larger-than-life size crochet sculptures at 10 Bay St. from October 5 to 13. - 24 Cecil St, Toronto, ON M5T 1N2, Canada - Event Details
