Alumnae Theatre Company presents Queen Marie - "Queen Marie" is a larger-than-life musical by Shirley Barrie that explores the life and times of Marie Dressler, a tenacious and flamboyant actress/comedienne from rural Cobourg, Ontario who became internationally famous in the 1930s. Marie began her career touring with travelling theatre companies, then moved on to vaudeville and Broadway comedy roles, and rose to stardom in Hollywood films with Charlie Chaplin, Greta Garbo, and Wallace Beery. This funny, vibrant production of "Queen Marie", directed by Rosemary Doyle, features a cast of 26 (including 10 who portray Marie at different points of her life), plus musicians and dancing girls. Performances April 13-28: Wed-Sat 8:00pm; Sundays 2pm. Additional 2pm matinee on Tuesday April 17. Tickets $25 regular / Wed 2-for 1 / Sun PWYC / $5 student tickets on HipTIX. .
