Alex Clemmer Exhibition

Exhibition: Alex Clemmer, Still Waters Forget Presented by: Alliance Française de Toronto Starts: October 9, 2013 Ends: December 20, 2013 Event Time(s):6:30 PMWebsite: http://www.alliance-francaise.ca/en/cultural-center/Email: culturel@alliance-francaise.ca Phone:416 922 2014 ext. 37 Costs: Free Whether deserted or populated, the shores of the Great Lakes offer a sublime spectacle of colour, light, and shifting shapes of sands and clouds. At first glance, this appears to be the subject of the photographs of Alexander Clemmer. The paradox underlying his work is that as a history enthusiast, Clemmer longs to gaze upon events that occurred decades before the invention of photography, such as the naval battles that took place during the War of 1812 between the United States and Canada. The viewer is held in the dynamic between the serenity of the image comprising Still Waters Forget, and the terrible historical narrative that each image title conveys.
