To kick of Black History Month celebrations at the University of Toronto Scarborough, the Department of Arts, Culture and Media is pleased to present Been a Long Time Comin': Pluralism and the African Diasporic Aesthetic, an exploration of the influences of the African diasporic aesthetic upon contemporary cultural performance in Canada. Featuring Kashe Dance and the wind in the leaves collective, the performances intricately unearth the personal and historical journeys of the African diaspora. Following the performances, Kevin Ormsby, Amanda Paixao, and Charles Smith will engage with the audience in a reflective artist talk.
